Fertility Preservation

What is Fertility Preservation?

Fertility preservation is the preservation of the eggs and/or sperm for use at a later date. The process enables the preservation of eggs or sperm before the female or male starts a medical treatment that could have a negative impact on their eggs or sperm, such as cancer treatment.

Fertility Preservation

Some couples choose to delay parenting, so they can focus on their careers and gain financial security before starting a family. Also when they go through the IVF cycle they got their left over embryos preserved for next cycle. Fertility preservation is the preservation of the eggs and/or sperm or ensures for later use. The process also enables the preservation of eggs or sperm before the female or male starts a medical treatment that could have a negative impact on their eggs or sperm, such as cancer treatment. Those who experience certain autoimmune disorders may also benefit from fertility preservation techniques.

We can divide fertility preservation into two types:

  • THERAPEUTIC FREEZING : Used in cases of autoimmune disorders or to preserve fertility prior to initiating medical treatments like chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

  • SOCIAL FREEZING : Used when a couple wants to delay starting a family for the sake of their careers or to establish financial security.
Fertility declines drastically with age. Also, as one advances in age, health problems can set in that can have an impact on fertility. Cryopreservation (freezing) of eggs and sperm offer solutions to these problems.

  • EGG FREEZING : In this technique, the eggs of a woman are retrieved when the quality and quantity of her eggs are at their best. After retrieval, the eggs are frozen. Advanced technologies enable us to preserve the viability of the eggs for years.
